The Philadelphia Eagles today announced that they have agreed to terms with T Jon Runyan on a three-year contract. Runyan originally signed with the Eagles in 2000 and went on to earn Pro Bowl honors following the 2002 season.

Runyan (6-7, 330), who is known throughout the NFL as a feisty, hard-nosed blocker, enters the 2006 season with an active streak of 160 consecutive combined starts in his 11-year career with both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tennessee Titans. His active streak of 144 consecutive regular season games started, all at right tackle, ranks 4th in the NFL among active players entering 2006. Runyans 16 postseason starts since 1999, which include six games with the Titans, are more than any other active player in the NFL.
A model of durability, Runyan has started all 96 regular season games in Philadelphia since 2000. In fact, he has not missed a regular season or postseason contest since that time, giving him 106 combined starts in an Eagles uniform. Runyans veteran leadership along the Eagles front has been key to the tremendous success Philadelphias offense has seen in recent years. In 2004, the offense posted a team-record 4,208 passing yards and the third-highest point total in team history (386). In 2002, he helped pave the way for the leagues fourth-highest scoring offense (25.9 pts./g), that posted a franchise-best 415 points. The 2002 offensive line also allowed the teams lowest sack total (36) in a 16-game season since 1981 (22).
Runyan, 32, originally entered the NFL as a fourth round draft choice of the Houston Oilers in 1996, the 109th overall selection. After spending his rookie season as a reserve, went on to start the next 48 regular season and six postseason games for the Oilers/Titans organization. In 1999, Runyan helped pave the way for the Titans magical ride to Super Bowl XXXIV and was rewarded for his efforts with second team All-Pro team honors from the Associated Press and Football Digest.
A native of Flint, MI, Runyan earned All-America and All-Big Ten honors at Michigan, playing both guard and tackle. Interestingly, Runyan has missed just two games in his entire football career due to injury, both in college. His last was December 30, 1994 vs. Colorado in the Holiday Bowl.
