神の子羊

　　　The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
　　　“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

　　　その翌日、ヨハネは自分の方にイエスが来られるのを見て
　　　言った。「見よ、世の罪を取り除く神の子羊」
　　　　　　ヨハネ伝1章29節

God’s laws tell us how we should live. They command us: “Never
desire to take your neighbor’s wife. Never murder. Never commit
adultery. Give to the poor.”

神の律法は私たちがどのように生きるべきか告げます。律法は私たち
に命じます。「あなたの隣人の妻を欲してはならない。殺すな。姦淫す
るな。貧しい人に与えよ」。

It’s good to follow God’s laws in order to guard against outward sins.
Before God, however, it won’t work to try to get rid of sin by obeying
God’s laws.

外に現れる罪に対して防御するためには、神の律法に従うのが良いです。
しかしながら、神の前では、神の律法に従うことにより罪を取り除こう
としてもうまく行きません。

What does work is stated in this verse: “Look, the Lamb of God, who
takes away the sin of the world!” Isaiah explains that “the Lord has
laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53: 6) and “for the transgression
of my people he was stricken” (v. 8). Everything points to Christ.

業(わざ)が何をするかは、この節に書かれています。「世の不法を取り
除く神の子羊を見なさい!」　イザヤは「主は彼の背に私たち全ての者
の不法を担わせられた」(イザヤ書53章6節)そして「私の民の罪のた
めに彼は打たれた」(8節)とイザヤは説明しています。全てはキリスト
を指し示しています。

As a Christian, you should hold tightly to these words and not let them
be taken away from you.

クリスチャンとして、あなたはこれらの言葉をしっかり保持し、あなた
から奪い取られないようにしなさい。

Then you will know that godless people and religious people who hope
to satisfy God with their pilgrimages and good works are blind.

そうすればあなたは、信仰心のない人たちや、信仰心はあっても巡礼や
良い業で神を満足させようとする人たちは盲目であることを知るでしょう。

Many boast of their good works and console themselves by thinking they
will get a second chance to be saved.

多くの者は自分の良い業を誇り、救われる二度目の機会を得るであろう
と考えて自分を慰めるのです。

The Holy Scripture, in contrast, says that the sins of the world aren’t
laid on the world. John’s sins weren’t laid on John, and Peter’s sins
weren’t laid on Peter, for no one can bear their own sins.

聖書は対照的に、世の罪は世の上に置かれないと言います。ヨハネの
罪はヨハネの上に置かれず、ペテロの罪はペテロの上に置かれない。
何故なら、誰も自分の罪を担えないからです。

Rather, the sins of the world were laid on Christ. He is the Lamb of
God. He stepped forward to become a sinner for us, to become even
sin itself, and to act as though he had committed the sins of the entire
world from the beginning of its creation (2 Corinthians 5: 21).

そうではなく、世の罪はキリストの上に置かれたのです。彼は神の子
羊です。彼は私たちのために罪人になろうと進み出たのです。そして
罪そのものとなり、天地創造の始めからの世の罪を、あたかも彼が犯
したかのように行動したのです。(コリント後書5章21節)

The Lamb’s mission, role, and function were to take away the sins of the
world. The Lamb carried them all.

子羊の使命、役割そして役目は、世の罪を取り去ることでした。子羊
はそれらの罪を全て担われました。
