キリストの勝利

　　　I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
　　　In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have
　　　overcome the world.
　　　　　　John 16: 33

　　　これらのことをあなた方に話したのは、あなたがたがわたしに
　　　あって平安を得るためです。世にあっては苦難があります。し
　　　かし、勇気を出しなさい。わたしはすでに世に勝ちました。
　　　　　　ヨハネ伝　16章33節

We should learn to remind ourselves of Christ’s victory. In Christ, we
already have everything that we need. We live only to spread this message
of victory to other people.

私たちはキリストの勝利を思い出すようにすることを学ぶべきです。キリ
ストにあって、私たちは既に私たちが必要なものを全てもっているのです。
私たちはこの勝利のメッセージを他の人たちに宣(のべ)伝えるためだけに
生きているのです。

With our words and example, we tell them about the victory that Crist
secured for us and gave to us. Christ, our victor, accomplished everything.
We don’t need to add anything to it. We don’t need to wipe away our
own sins or try to conquer death and the devil.

私たちの言葉と先例によって、キリストが獲得して私たちに与えて下さっ
た勝利について私たちは彼らに告げます。私たちの勝利者であるキリスト
は、全てを成し遂げて下さいました。私たちはそれに何も付け加える必要
はありません。私たち自身の罪を拭い去ることも、また死や悪魔に打ち勝
とうとする必要もありません。

Everything has already been done for us. We’re not fighting the real battle.
We’re only suffering now in order to share in Christ’s victory.

全ての事が既に私たちのために為されました。私たちは実戦をしているの
ではありません。私たちは今、キリストの勝利に与るために苦しんでいる
だけです。

All of our suffering combined, even all the suffering and the blood of the
martyrs and saints, wouldn’t give us the victory. It’s not accomplished by
what we do.

私たち全員の苦難を合わせても、そして殉教者や聖人たちの苦難と流され
た血によっても、私たちは勝利を得られないでしょう。その勝利は、私た
ちが何かをすることによっては、得られないのです。

Some people claim that we ought to be able to conquer sin, death, and hell
on our own. By saying this, they insult Christ. But our struggles and
fighting come way too late.

私たちは死と地獄とに私たち自身で勝つことが出来なければならないと言
う人たちがいます。しかしこう言うことによって、彼らはキリストを侮辱
しています。しかし私たちの闘争が起こるのはあまりにも遅すぎます。

The battle must have been won already if we are to have any comfort and
peace. Christ says, “I have already won. Accept my victory. Sing about
it and glorify it. Take comfort in it.”

私たちがなにがしかの慰めと平安を得るためには、戦いは既に勝ち取られ
ていなければなりません。キリストは言われます。「私は既に勝った。私の
勝利を受けなさい。その勝利を歌い、称賛しなさい。そこに慰めを得なさ
い。

We know from the past that when believers were severely tested, the Holy
Spirit reminded them of Christ’s victory and strengthened them so that
they could endure everything.

信者たちが厳しい試練に遇ったとき、聖霊は信者たちにキリストの勝利を
思い出させ、彼らを力づけられたので、彼らは全てのことに耐えることが
出来たということを、私たちは歴史で知っています。

They could even face martyrdom, relying on Christ’s victory. May God
help us also to hold on to Christ’s victory during our troubles and when
we’re dying.

信者たちはキリストの勝利に信頼して、殉教に直面することさえ出来まし
た。神様、私たちが苦難しているときも、また死ぬときにも、キリストの
勝利を手放すことがないように助けて下さい。

Even though we don’t understand these words of Christ completely, we can
still believe in them in times of trouble and reassure ourselves: “My Lord
and Savior spoke these words to my heart.

私たちはキリストのこれらの御言葉を完全に理解してはいませんが、私
たちは困難の時にそれらの御言葉を信じて、平安を得ることが出来ます。
「私の主、救主がこれらの御言葉を私の心に語られた。

In Christ I have a victor over the world, death, and the devil. It doesn’t
matter how small and weak I am. Amen.”

キリストに在って私は、この世と死と悪魔に勝っている。私がいかに小さ
くて弱いかは、問題ではない。アーメン」。
