READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm97 　詩篇第97篇

1.　　The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice;
　　　let the many coastlands be glad!

　　　主は王である。地は小躍りせよ。
　　　多くの島々は喜べ。

2.　　Clouds and thick darkness are around him;
　　　righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne

　　　雲と暗黒が主を囲み
　　　義とさばきが御座の基(もとい)である。

3.　　Fire goes before him
　　　and burns up his adversaries all around.

　　　火は御前に先立ち
　　　主の敵を囲んで焼き尽くす。

4.　　His lightnings light up the world;
　　　the earth sees and trembles.

　　　主の稲妻は世界を照らし
　　　地はそれを見て　おののく。

5.　　The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,
　　　before the Lord of all the earth.

　　　山々は主の御前にろうのように溶ける。
　　　全地の主の御前に。

6.　　The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
　　　and all the peoples see his glory.

　　　天は主の義を告げ
　　　諸国の民はその栄光を見る。

7.　　All worshipers of images are put to shame,
　　　who make their boast in worthless idols;
　　　worship him, all you gods!

　　　すべて偶像に仕える者
　　　偽りの神々を誇る者は恥を見る。
　　　すべての神々よ　主にひれ伏せ。

8.　　Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
　　　because of your judgments, O LORD.

　　　シオンは聞いて喜び　ユダの娘たちも　小躍りしました。
　　　主よ　あなたのさばきのゆえに。

9.　　For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth;
　　　you are exalted far above all gods.

　　　主よ　あなたこそ　全地の上におられる　いと高き方。
　　　すべての神々を超えて　高くあがめられています。

10. 　O you who love the LORD, hate evil!
　　　He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them
　　　from the hand of the wicked.

　　　主を愛する者たちよ　悪を憎め。
　　　主は　主にある敬虔な者たちのたましいを守り
　　　悪者どもの手から　彼らを救い出される。

11. 　Light is sown for the righteous,
　　　and joy for the upright in heart.

　　　光は　正しい者のために蒔かれている。
　　　喜びは　心の直ぐな人のために。

12. 　Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous,
　　　and give thanks to his holy name.

　　　正しい者たち　主にあって喜べ。
　　　その聖なる御名に感謝せよ。



(解説)
The 97th psalm is a prophecy of the kingdom of Christ, just as the
preceding psalm was. And the significance is always this, that Crist
rules and maintains this kingdom through the Gospel through which
He sends out thunder and lightning and burns His enemies and melts
the mountains.

　詩篇第97篇は、第96篇と同様、キリストの王国についての預言です。そ
してその重点は、この王国がキリストによって福音を通して支配され、維持
されるということです。この福音によって、キリストは雷と稲妻を送り出し、
彼の敵たちを焼き、山を溶かします。

That is, He brings low all holiness, all wisdom, power, and whatever is
great so that they might be holy, wise, great, and powerful through Him
alone.

その意味は、キリストは全ての聖なるもの、全ての知恵、力、そして全ての
偉大なるものを低くし、それらがキリストを通してだけ聖なるもの、知恵、
偉大なるもの、力あるものとなるようにするということです。

Along with these enemies and mountains, the Israelite kingdom and
worship perish also, as well as all that is not Christ.

これらの敵たちと山と共に、イスラエル王国とその礼拝、そしてまたキリス
トでないものもまたすべて滅びます。

For He alone shall endure, and all others pass away, as the stone in
Daniel, cut from the mountains, fills the whole world and scatters
everything else and makes them to nothing (Daniel 2: 34). He
will be the mountain filling the whole world.

何故なら、キリストだけが残り、他のものは全て過ぎ去るからです。ダニエ
ル書に書かれている岩のように、山々から切り出されて、全世界に満ち、他
のものをみなまき散らして、それらを無にします(ダニエル書2章34節)。
キリストは全世界を覆う山となるでしょう。

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure:
Cleanse me from its guilt and pow’r. Amen. (LSB 761:1)
