READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm109 　詩篇第109篇　Part1　

1.　　Be not silent, O God of my praise!

　　　私の賛美である神よ、沈黙しないでください。

2.　　For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me,
　　　speaking against me with lying tongues.

　　　彼らは邪悪な口と欺きの口を私に向けて開き
　　　偽りの舌をもって私に語るからです。

3.　　They encircle me with words of hate,
　　　and attack me without cause.

　　　彼らは　憎しみのことばで私を取り囲み
　　　ゆえなく私に挑んできます。

4.　　In return for my love they accuse me,
　　　but I give myself to prayer.

　　　私の愛に代えて　彼らは告発で応じます。
　　　私は祈るばかりです。

5.　　So they reward me evil for good,
　　　and hatred for my love.

(解説)
The 109th psalm is a psalm of prayer, prayed in the person of Christ
against Judas, His betrayer, and against the Jews, His crucifiers.

詩篇第109篇は祈りの詩篇です。キリストが、裏切り者のユダに対して、
また彼を十字架に付けたユダヤ人に対して祈っています。

In Acts 1: 20 St. Peter applied this psalm to Judas when they were
selecting Matthias to replace him.

使徒行伝第1章20節で、ペテロは、ユダに代えてマティアスを選ぶときに、
この詩篇を適用しています。

He did not mean to say that the psalm speaks only about Judas. … The
psalm begins with Judas and then extends to everyone of Judas’ like,
to all schismatics and persecutors of the Word of Christ; for they always
slander the truth and persecute the genuine Christians. (From

彼は詩篇がユダについて語るとき、ユダについてだけ語ろうとしたのでは
ありませんでした。詩篇はユダから始めていますが、次にユダに類した者
たち、即ち分断主義者とキリストの御言葉を迫害する者たちについても
語っています。なぜなら、彼らはいつも真理を中傷し、真のクリスチャン

Christ Himself complains of these matters in Psalm 109: 2. …For
thus the enemies of the truth are accustomed to obscure, traduce, and
corrupt the fruits and gains of the Gospel and of salvation among
simple and godly hearers. …

キリストご自身が、これらの事について詩篇第109篇2節で訴えています。
なぜなら真理の敵は、福音と救いの果実や益を単純で敬虔な人たちの間で、
このように不明瞭にしたり、中傷したり、腐敗させたりすることに慣れて
いるからです。

[These enemies] adorn themselves with false and counterfeit praises;
but they defame us, in order to make us more obnoxious to those who
are strangers to our doctrine. (From Luther’s lectures on Genesis 39:
13—15, Luther’s Works 7:92)

(PRAYER 祈り)
Excellent, O Lord Jesus, is Your love which You have shown toward
us in that You came into our flesh, and suffered such contradiction of
sinners against Yourself.

オー、主イエスよ、あなたが私たちに示されたあなたの愛は、なんと優れ
たものでしょうか。その愛は、あなたは人となられ、あなたご自身に対する
罪人たちの、かくも酷い反対を苦しまれましたことで示されました。

Grant us a will so conformed to Your will, that we do not fear the hatred
and the mockery of the wicked, but suffering ridicule patiently, follow
You all the days of our lives. Amen.

あなたの御心に従う心をお与えください。悪者の憎しみやあざけりを恐れ
ることがありませんように。嘲笑を忍耐強く耐え、生涯あなたに従うこと
ができますように。　アーメン。
