READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm114 　詩篇第114篇

1.　　When Israel went out from Egypt,
　　　the house of Jacob from a people
　　　of strange language,

　　　イスラエルがエジプトから
　　　ヤコブの家が　ことばの異なる民のうちから
　　　出て来たとき

2.　　Judah became his sanctuary,
　　　Israel his dominion.

　　　ユダは神の聖所となり
　　　イスラエルは神の領地となった。

3.　　The sea looked and fled;
　　　Jordan turned back.

　　　海は見て逃げ去り
　　　ヨルダン川は引き返した。

4.　　The mountains skipped like rams,
　　　the hills like lambs.

　　　山々は雄羊のように
　　　丘は子羊のように跳ね回った。

5.　　What ails you, O sea, that you flee?
　　　O Jordan, that you turn back?

　　　どうしたことか。海よ、　おまえが逃げ去るとは。
　　　ヨルダン川よ　おまえが引き返すとは。

6.　　O mountains, that you skip like rams?
　　　O hills, like lambs?

　　　山々よ　なぜおまえは雄羊のように跳ねるのか。
　　　丘よ　なぜ子羊のように跳ねるのか。

7.　　Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
　　　at the presence of the God of Jacob,

　　　地よ　主の御前におののけ。
　　　ヤコブの神の御前に。

8.　　who turns the rock into a spring of water.
　　　the flint into a spring of water.

　　　神は岩を水の潤う沢に変えられた。
　　　堅い岩を　水のあふれる泉に



(解説)
The 114th psalm is a psalm of thanks, for the people of Israel to praise
God at Passover for His wonderful works.

詩篇第114篇は、感謝の詩篇であり、イスラエルの民が過ぎ越しの祭のと
きに、神がしてくださった不思議な業を讃えるものです。

He had led them out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, through the dry
wilderness, mountains, and the Jordan, into the Promised Land.

神はイスラエルの民を、エジプトから連れ出し、紅海を通り、乾燥した荒
野を通り、山々を越え、ヨルダンを渡り、約束の地に導いてくださいまし
た。

We sing this psalm daily to Christ to praise Him who has led us out
of death and sin, through the wilderness of the flesh and the devil,
into an eternal life.

私たちは日ごとにこの詩篇をキリストに歌い称賛します。キリストが私た
ちを死と罪から引き出し、肉と悪魔の荒野を通って永遠の生命へと導いて
くださったからです。



(PRAYER 祈り)
Teach us, O God, to know Your mighty works and wondrous ways, that
our soul may bow to Your Majesty and may give to You honor and
praise.

神様あなたの力あるわざと奇しい方法とを知るために教えてください。私た
ちのたましいがあなたの威厳に敬服し、あなたに栄誉と称賛を捧げるためで
す。

Enlighten our eyes to see in Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life,
and grant us grace to walk in this way, to adhere to this truth, and to
win eternal life. Amen.

イエス・キリストの中に道、真理、そして生命を見ることができるように、
私たちの目を開いてください。またその道を歩み、その真理についてはな
れず、永遠の生命を勝ち取れるように導いてください。アーメン。
