READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm126 　詩篇第126篇　


1.　　When the LORD restored the fortune of Zion,
　　　we were like those who dream.

　　　主がシオンを復興してくださったとき
　　　私たちは夢を見ている者のようであった。

2.　　Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
　　　and our tongue with shouts of joy;
　　　then they said among the nations,
　　　“The LORD has done great things for them.”

　　　そのとき　私たちの口は笑いで満たされ
　　　私たちの舌は喜びの叫びで満たされた。
　　　そのとき　諸国の人々は言った。
　　　「主は彼らのために大いなることをなさった。」

3.　　The LORD has done great things for us;
　　　we are glad.

　　　主が私たちのために大いなることをなさったので
　　　私たちは喜んだ。

4.　　Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
　　　like streams in the Negeb!

　　　主よ　ネゲブの流れのように
　　　私たちを元どおりにしてください。

5.　　Those who sow in tears
　　　shall reap with shouts of joy!

　　　涙とともに種を蒔く者は
　　　喜び叫びながら刈り取る。

6.　　He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing,
　　　shall come home with shouts of joy,
　　　bringing his sheaves with him.

　　　種入れを抱え　泣きながら出て行く者は
　　　束を抱え　喜び叫びながら帰って来る。



(解説)
The 126th psalm is a psalm of thanks for the deliverance from the
captivity in Babylon.

詩篇第126篇は、バビロン捕囚から解放されたことを感謝する詩篇です。

Whether it was made following that captivity or prior to it (as a prophecy
for the comfort and hope for the coming deliverance, so that they may
not despair) is of no concern.

この詩篇がバビロン捕囚の後に作られたのか、それとも解放前に作られた
のかには関心はありません。もし解放前であれば、捕囚されていた人たち
が絶望しないように、慰めのためのために、やがて来る解放を預言し、希
望を持つように告げたのでしょう。

At the end the psalmist concludes that it happens---and always happens
---to the saints that they first suffer before they can rejoice.

最後に詩人はこう結論します。信仰者は、喜ぶ前に先ず苦しむ。それは起
こることであり、また常に起こることであると。

Similarly, the world first rejoices before they get their suffering.

同様に、この世は先ず喜び、その後に苦しみます。

Therefore, the saints sow with tears to reap afterward with joy.

それゆえ、信徒は後に喜んで刈り入れるために、涙を流して種を蒔くので
す。

But (he says), such seed is excellent and precious seed to bring forth
such a fruit.

しかし、と詩人は言います。その種は、実を結ぶための優秀で貴重な種であ
ると。

Before weeping, one cannot see that it is so precious and worthy before
God.

泣く前には、それが、神の御前でそれほど貴重で価値のあるものであること
が分からないのです。

But God loves His saints so much that He regards even their death (which
is truly the most abominable, accursed seed of the world) as more precious
than all of the world’s treasures and goods.

しかし神は信徒たちをとても愛しておられるので、彼らの死(それは実に世界
で最も忌まわしく、呪われた種です)さえも世界のすべての財宝より貴重だと
考えておられます。



(PRAYER 祈り)
Merciful Father in heaven, convert the sinners and comfort Your believers
with Your Word and Spirit.

天にいます慈悲深い父よ、罪人たちを回心させ、またあなたの御言葉と御霊
によってあなたを信じる者たちを慰めてください。

Grant us willing hearts and understanding minds to sow the seed of Your
Word broadcast among men, and if it seems good to hide the fruit of our
sowing from our eyes, strengthen our hearts that we faint not, but wait
for the harvest in the world to come, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

あなたの御言葉の種を広く人々の間に蒔くために意欲的な心と聡明な精神
をお与えください。そして私たちが蒔いた種の実を私たちの目から隠す方
が良いと思われるなら、私たちの心がくじけないように、心を強くして、
やがて来る世界での収穫の時を待つことができるようにしてください。
私たちの主イエス・キリストを通してお願いします。　アーメン。
