READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm132 　詩篇第132篇　


1.　　Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor,
　　　all the hardships he endured,

　　　主よ　ダビデのために
　　　彼のすべての苦しみを思い出してください。

2.　　how he swore to the LORD
　　　and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,

　　　彼は主に誓い

3.　　“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,

4.　　I will not give sleep to my eyes

6.　　Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah;
　　　we found it in the fields of Jaar.

7.　　“Let us go to his dwelling place;
　　　let us worship at his footstool!”

8.　　Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place,
　　　you and the ark of your might.

9.　　Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,
　　　and let your saints shout for joy.

10. 　For the sake of your servant David,
　　　do not turn away the face of your anointed one.

11. 　The LORD swore to David a sure oath from
　　　which he will not turn back:
　　　“One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.

　　　「あなたの身から出る子を　あなたの位に就かせる。

12. 　If your sons keep my covenant and
　　　my testimonies that I shall teach them,
　　　their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.”

　　　わたしが教えるさとしを守るなら
　　　彼らの子らも　とこしえにあなたの位に就く。」

13. 　For the LORD has chosen Zion;
　　　he has desired it for his dwelling place:

　　　主はシオンを選び

14. 　“This is my resting place forever;
　　　here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

　　　これはとこしえに　私の安息の場所。
　　　ここにわたしは住む。
　　　わたしがそれを望んだから。

15. 　I will abundantly bless her provisions;
　　　I will satisfy her poor with bread.

　　　わたしは豊にシオンの食物を祝福し
　　　その貧しい者をパンで満ち足らせる。

16. 　Her priests I will clothe with salvation,
　　　and her saints will shout for joy.

　　　その祭司たちに救いをまとわせる。

17. 　There I will make a horn to sprout for David;
　　　I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.

　　　そこにわたしはダビデのために

18. 　His enemies I will clothe with shame,
　　　but on him his crown will shine.”

　　　わたしは彼の敵に恥をまとわせる。

(解説)
The 132nd psalm is a psalm of prayer in which Solomon, or the people
of Israel, pray for the preservation of the priesthood and the kingdom.

詩篇第132篇は、祈りの詩篇です。その中でソロモンまたはイスラエルの
民は、司祭職と王国の保護のために祈ります。

That is, they pray for the spiritual and worldly authorities: for God’s
Word and temporal peace. For where these both stand well, things
go well.

言い換えれば、彼らが霊的およびこの世的権威のために祈ったのです。即
ち神の御言葉と現世の平和のためです。なぜなら、これら二つがしっかり
していれば、物事は順調に進むのです。

The psalmist goes on to tell how such a prayer is not only heard, but
that God has promised with an oath to preserve the kingdom and
priesthood in Jerusalem and to dwell there Himself.

詩人はさらに続けて、そのような祈りは聴かれるだけでなく、神様がエルサ
レムにおける王国と祭司制度を守り、神御自身がそこに住まわれると、誓っ
て約束されたと語ります。

He will give all blessing and grace Himself and bring their enemies
down to disgrace, so long as they also keep His Commandments and
be obedient to Him.

神が言われたことをイスラエルの民が守り、神に従順であれば、神御自身
があらゆる祝福と恵みをお与えになり、彼らの敵には恥辱を与えられるの
です。

Why, however, he called the place of God’s dwelling “Ephrathah” and
the “fields of Jaar” is too long to comment on here and belongs in a
commentary.

しかしながら、なぜ神が住まわれる場所を「エフラテ」また「ヤアルの野」
と詩人が呼んだのかについての説明をここでするには長すぎます。それは

You, O Christ, are worthy to receive honor and praise, because You
gather for Yourself a Church out of every kindred and tongue and
nation.

キリスト様、あなたは名誉と称賛を受けるに相応しい方です。あなたは御
自分のためにあらゆる種類の人々、言語、国の中から教会に属する人たち
を集められました。

Because You have called us into Your kingdom, make us Your loyal
subjects that, dressed in Your livery and justified in the sight of the
Father through Your redemption, we may also walk as Your subjects,
glorifying Your name upon earth. Amen.

あなたが私たちをあなたの王国に呼ばれたのですから、私たちをあなたの
忠実な臣民としてください。あなたが下さるおそろいの服を着て、あなた
