私たちの内なるキリスト

　　　On that day you will realize that I am in my Father,
　　　and you are in me, and I am in you.

　　　その日には、わたしが父のうちに、あなたがたがわたしの
　　　うちに、そしてわたしがあなたがたのうちにいることが、
　　　あなたがたに分かります。
　　　　　　(ヨハネ伝14章20節)

We are in Christ, and Christ is in us. The first truth points upward; the
second points downward. We must first be in him with all our being------
with our sin and weakness and even with death.

私たちはキリストの中にあり、キリストは私たちの中にある。一番目の
真理は上方を指さし、二番目の真理は下方を指さす。私たちは先ず私た
ちの全存在……即ち私たちの罪、弱さ、そして死さえも……含めて彼
の中にいなければならない。

We know that in God’s eyes we are freed, redeemed, and saved from these
through Christ.

神の眼から見て、私たちはキリストにより、これらから自由にされ、贖
われ、救われているのです。

Then we must swing above and beyond ourselves to Christ. Yes, we must
be totally one with Christ and his people------those are baptized in him and
receive the Lord’s Supper.

次に私たちは私たち自身を飛び越えてキリストへと移らなければなりま
せん。そうです。私たちはキリスト及び彼の集団……即ち彼の内にバプ
テスマを受け、聖餐を受ける人たち……と全く一つにならなければなり
ません。

Consequently, sin, death, the devil, and struggles with a bad conscience
disappear.

その結果として、罪、死、悪魔、そして悪いやましい心は消え去ります。

We can then say, “I’m not sure about death or hell. If there is death, let
it consume my Lord Christ first. If there is hell, let it devour my Savior.
If sin, the law, or my conscience condemns me, let it accuse the Son of God.

その時私たちは言うことが出来ます。「死とか地獄について、私は確かで
はありません。もし死があるなら、まず死に私の主キリストを食い尽させ
なさい。もし地獄があるなら、私の救主を滅ぼさせなさい。もし罪、律法、
または私の良心が私を咎めるなら、先ずそれに私の主キリストを告発させ
なさい。

If that happens, then let me be condemned, consumed, and devoured with
my Lord. But because the Father and Christ live, I also will live.

もしその事が起きるなら、私もまた主と共に告発され、焼き尽され、食い
尽されましょう。しかし父とキリストが生きておられるので、私もまた
生きるでしょう。

Because Christ remains undefeated by sin and death, I also remain
undefeated. For I know that Christ is in the Father; therefore, I also am
in Christ.” This is how we soar above and beyond ourselves to Christ.

キリストが罪にも死にも負けずに留まっておられるので、私もまた負けず
に留まります。何故ならキリストは父の中におられ、それ故私もまたキリ
ストの中にあることを、私は知っているからです。これが私たちが上方へ、
そして私たち自身を超えてキリストへと飛翔する仕方です。

After that, Christ comes down to us from above. If we are in Christ, then
Christ is in us. We have received him and crept into him. We have left
sin, death, and the devil behind.

その後キリストが上から私たちのところまで降りて来られます。もし私
たちがキリストの中にあるなら、キリストは私たちの中におられます。
私たちは彼を受け入れ、彼の中にそっと忍び込んだのです。私たちは罪、
死、そして悪魔を後ろに残して去ったのです。

So Jesus shows himself to us and says, “Go. Preach, comfort, and baptize.
Serve your neighbor. Be obedient and patient. I will be in you, and I
will do all this through you.

それからイエスは私たちに御自身を現されて言われる。「行き、説教し、
慰め、そしてバプテスマを施しなさい。あなたの隣人に仕えなさい。従
順で忍耐強くありなさい。私はあなたの中にいる。そしてこれらの事を
全てあなたを通して行う。

Whatever you do will be accomplished by me. Be happy. Be bold and
courageous. Remain in me, then I will certainly remain in you.”

あなたがするものは全て私によって完成される。幸福になりなさい。大
胆で勇敢になりなさい。私の中に留まりなさい。そうすれば私もきっと
あなたの中に留まろう」。
