　　　　　 BETTER THAN THE BEST.

Said John Wesley: The best of all things is, God is with us. I say: Better than the best of all things is, God forgives our sins. And the same God did and does forgive our sins in the Son of His love, through His cross.

Our sins all wiped out in Him, --- what an exceeding great mercy! In Him, not anywhere else, in Christ who suffered for our sins, is no sin; and we by faith, can live and move and have our being in this sinless atmosphere, the heavenliness of the spiritual life.

A mystery, but a reality, and sweetly reasonable, --- God’s forgiveness guaranteed by His righteousness, --- is not the message altogether too good for sinners, --- an evangel indeed, better than the best of all things!



　　　　　最善よりも善いもの

　ジョン・ウェスレーは言った、「最も善い事は、神が私達と共におられるという事である」と。私は言う、最も善い事よりもさらに善い事は、神は私達の罪を赦して下さるという事であると。

誠にこの神は、その愛子に在って、彼の十字架の死を以て、私達の罪を拭い去って下さった。恩恵の極とはこの事である。彼に在っては(彼以外にこの事なし)、私達の罪が赦されるために苦しまれたキリストに在っては、罪なるものはないのである。

そして私達は信仰によって、この罪なき境涯に在って生き、また動き、また在ることが出来るのである。誠に霊的生命の天国とはこの境涯である。

奥義である。けれども事実である。美(うる)わしい道理にかなった事実である。これは誠に罪人にとって善過ぎる音信(おとずれ)である。福音である。喜ばしい音信である。最も善いものよりもさらに善いものである。
