神に帰れ。

　　　The Lord was very angry with your forefathers. Therefore
　　　tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Return
　　　to me,” declares the Lord Almighty, “and I will return to you,”
　　　says the Lord Almighty.

　　　「主はあなたがたの先祖に激しく怒った。あなたは人々に言え。
　　　『万軍の主はこう言われる。わたしに帰れ。――万軍の主のこ
　　　とば――そうすれば、わたしもあなたがたに帰る。――万軍の
　　　主は言われる。』
　　　　　　ゼカリヤ書1章2〜3節

In this passage, we see that Zechariah’s message was primarily concerned
with belief and unbelief. He pointed out that the greatest sin of the
Israelites’ ancestors was not trusting in God when they were undergoing
trials.

この節では、ゼカリヤの使信は主として信と不信に関係しています。イ
スラエルの祖先たちの一番大きな罪は、彼らが試練に遇っている時に神
を信頼していなかったことだと、ゼカリヤは言っています。

Rather, they looked to other people for help. In this way, they were
rebellious and idolatrous. Zechariah wanted the people of Israel to
understand that the words “Return to me” should penetrate their hearts
deeply.

そうせずに、彼らは他の人々に助けを求めました。このようにして、彼ら
は反抗的で偶像崇拝的でした。「わたしに帰れ」という言葉が、彼らの心
に深く入らなければならないことを、イスラエルの人々が理解すること
をゼカリヤは望みました。

People “return to God” when they trust in and find comfort in God at
all times, especially in times of need. On the other hand, people have
turned away from God when they don’t trust in God.

人々がいつも、また特に必要な時に、神を信頼し慰めを見出す時に、彼
らは「神に帰る」のです。反対に人々が神に信頼しない時に、彼らは神
から離れ去るのです。

When people don’t trust God, their good works and sacrifices won’t be
able to help them. This is what happened to Israel’s ancestors.

人々が神を信じない時、彼らの良い業も犠牲も彼らの助けにはなりませ
ん。それがイスラエルの祖先に起った事でした。

In Zechariah’s time, when the Israelites were trying to rebuild the temple,
they needed to turn to the Lord Almighty because of all trials and troubles
they were facing.

ザカリアの時代、イスラエルの民は神殿を再建しようとした時、彼らは
彼らが直面している全ての試練や困難ゆえに、全能の神に立ち返る必要
がありました。

They had to cling to God and depend on him even if rebuilding the
temple angered the emperor of Persia or the neighboring people. He
wanted to help, could help, and would help them so that Israel’s enemies
wouldn’t overpower them again.

神殿再建がペルシャ王や周囲の民を怒らせようとも、彼らは神に縋り、
神に依存しなければなりませんでした。神はイスラエルの敵たちがイス
ラエルの民を再び圧倒しないように、彼らを助けたいと、助けることが
出来たらと、また助けようと思いました。

We too need to hear these warnings in the book of Zechariah. Let
everyone return to Christ, cling to him, and not fall away. Let no one
become scared or be led away. God speaks. And God will do
what he says.

私たちもまた、ザカリヤ書に書かれているこれ等の警告を聞く必要が
あります。全ての人がキリストに返り、彼に縋って、抜け落ちません
ように。誰も恐れることなく、連れ去られませんように。神は語って
おられます。そして神は語られたことを実行されるでしょう。
