READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm 79　詩篇第79篇

1. 　　O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
　　　they have defiled your holy temple;
　　　they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.

　　　神よ　国々はあなたのゆずりの地に侵入し
　　　あなたの聖なる宮を汚し
　　　エルサレムを瓦礫(がれき)の山としました。

2.　　They have given the bodies of your servants
　　　to the birds of the heavens for food,
　　　the flesh of your faithful to the beasts of the earth.

　　　彼らは　あなたのしもべたちの屍(しかばね)を
　　　空の鳥の餌食とし
　　　あなたにある敬虔な人たちの肉を　地の獣に与え

3.　　They have poured out their blood like water all around
　　　Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.

　　　彼らの血を　エルサレムの周りに
　　　水のように注ぎ出しました。
　　　彼らを葬る者もいません。

4.　　We have become a taunt to our neighbors,
　　　mocked and derided by those around us.

　　　私たちは隣人のそしりの的となり
　　　周りの者に嘲られ　笑いぐさとなりました。

5.　　How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever?
　　　Will your jealousy burn like fire?

　　　主よ　いつまでですか。
　　　とこしえに　あなたはお怒りになるのですか。
　　　いつまで　あなたのねたみは
　　　火のように燃えるのですか。

6.　　Pour out your anger on the nations that do not know you,
　　　and on the kingdoms that do not call upon your name!

　　　どうか　あなたの激しい憤りを注いでください。
　　　あなたを知らない国々に
　　　御名を呼び求めない王国の上に。

7.　　For they have devoured Jacob
　　　and laid waste his habitation.

　　　彼らはヤコブを食い尽くし
　　　その住む所を荒らしたのです。

8.　　Do not remember against us our former iniquities;
　　　let your compassion come speedily to meet us,
　　　for we are brought very low.

　　　先祖たちの咎を
　　　私たちのものとして思い出さないでください。
　　　あなたのあわれみが
　　　速やかに私たちを迎えるようにしてください。
　　　私たちは　ひどくおとしめられているのです。

9.　　Help us, O God of our salvation,
　　　for the glory of your name;
　　　deliver us, and atone for our sins,
　　　for your name’s sake!

　　　私たちの救いの神よ　私たちを助けてください。
　　　御名の栄光のために。
　　　私たちを救い出し　私たちの罪をお赦しください。
　　　御名のゆえに。

10. 　Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
　　　Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of
　　　your servants be known among the nations before our eyes!

　　　なぜ　国々は「彼らの神はどこにいるのか」と言うのでしょう。
　　　あなたのしもべたちの　流された血の復讐が
　　　私たちの目の前で　国々に果たされますように。

11. 　Let the groans of the prisoners come before you;
　　　according to your great power,
　　　preserve those doomed to die!

　　　捕らわれ人のうめきが　御前に届きますように。
　　　あなたの大いなる力のゆえに
　　　死に定められた人々を　生きながらえさせてください。

12. 　Return sevenfold into the lap of our neighbors
　　　the taunts with which they have taunted you, O Lord!

　　　主よ　あなたをそしった　そのそしりの七倍を
　　　私たちの隣人らの胸に返してください。

13. 　But we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
　　　will give thanks to you forever;
　　　from generation to generation we
　　　will recount your praise.

　　　私たちは　あなたの民　あなたの牧場の羊です。
　　　私たちは　とこしえまでもあなたに感謝し
　　　世々限りなく　あなたの誉れを語り告げます。



(解説)
The 79th psalm is a psalm of prayer against the destruction to come,
which was accomplished by the Babylonians and Antiochus Epiphanes.

詩篇第79篇はやがて来る破壊に対する祈りの詩篇です。その破壊はバビ
ロニア人とアンティオコス・エピファネスにより実現されました。

It is like the 78th psalm, so the same summary applies. Isaiah
63 also prays concerning this coming destruction.

それは詩篇第78篇に似ています。したがって同じ概要が適用されます。
イザヤ書63章もまた、このやがて来る破壊について祈っています。



(PRAYER 祈り)
Lord Jesus Christ, with us abide,
　　　For round us falls the eventide.
　　　O let Your Word, that saving light,
　　　Shine forth undimmed into the night.

In these last days of great distress
　　　Grant us, dear Lord, true steadfastness
　　　That we keep pure till life is spent
　　　Your holy Word and sacrament. Amen. (LSB 585: 1, 2)

主イエス・キリストよ、私たちと共に宿ってください。
　　　私たちの周りには夜のとばりが降りて来ます。
　　　あなたの御言葉、救いの光を
　　　夜はよもすがら明るく輝かせてください。

この末の日は大きな苦難の時、
　　　私たちの信仰を堅固なものにしてください。
　　　いのち尽きるまで清く保たせてください。
