READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm82 　詩篇第82篇

1.　　God has taken his place in the divine council;
　　　in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:

　　　神は　神の会議の中に立ち
　　　神々のただ中でさばきを下す。

2.　　“How long will you judge unjustly
　　　and show partiality to the wicked?

　　　いつまで　おまえたちは不正をもってさばき
　　　悪しき者たちの味方をするのか。

3.　　Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
　　　maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

　　　弱い者とみなしごのためにさばき
　　　苦しむ者と乏しい者の正しさを認めよ。

4.　　Rescue the weak and the needy;
　　　deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

　　　弱い者と貧しい者を助け出し
　　　悪しき者たちの手から救い出せ。

5.　　They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
　　　they walk about in darkness;
　　　all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

　　　彼らは知らない。　また　悟らない。
　　　彼らは暗闇の中を歩き回る。
　　　地の基は　ことごとく揺らいでいる。

6.　　I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;

　　　わたしは言った。
　　　「おまえたちは神々だ。　みないと高き者の子らだ。

7.　　nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.”

　　　にもかかわらず　おまえたちは人のように死に
　　　君主たちの一人のように倒れるのだ。」

8.　　Arise, O God, judge the earth;
　　　for you shall inherit all the nations!

　　　神よ　立ち上がって　地をさばいてください。
　　　あなたが　すべての国々を
　　　ご自分のものとしておられるからです。



(解説)
The 82nd psalm is a psalm of comfort against the tyrants who oppress
those in misery. But this psalm has already had its interpretation,
which has long been published.

詩篇第82篇は苦難にある人々を抑圧する暴君たちに対するなぐさめの詩
篇です。しかしこの詩篇は異なる解釈がされていて、その解釈が公表され
てからもう長い年月が経っています。

[From Luther’s commentary on Psalm 82: 2:] After the Gospel or
the ministry, there is on earth no better jewel, no greater treasure, nor
richer alms, no fairer endowment, no finer possession than a ruler who
makes and preserves just laws. Such men are rightly called gods…

[詩篇82：2についてのルターの解説から]　福音または聖職の次には、
正しい法律を作り、それを守る統治者以上に良い宝石や宝物、または
豊かな施し物、美しい寄付、素晴らしい財産は、この地上にありません。
そのような統治者は正にゴッズと呼べるでしょう。

[But] worldly government will make no progress. The people are
too wicked, and the lords dishonor God’s name and Word continually
by the shameful abuse of their godhead.

しかしこの世の政府は進歩しません。人間たちは悪すぎます。そして
支配者たちは、彼らの「神」をいつも恥ずべき仕方で乱用することに
よって神の御名と御言葉を汚しています。

Therefore, he prays for another government and kingdom in which
things will be better, where God’s name will be honored, His Word
kept and He Himself be served; that is the kingdom of Christ. …

それ故、彼は現在のものと代わる他の政府と王国を求めて祈ります。そこ
では物事はより良く、神の御名は崇められるでしょう。神の御言葉は守ら
れ、神御自身が仕えられます。それがキリストの王国です。…

For Christ practices aright the three divine virtues. … He advances
God’s Word and the preaches of it; He makes and keeps law for the
poor; He protects and rescues the miserable.

なぜならキリストが三つの徳行を正しく実践されるからです。キリスト
は神の御言葉を進めて、それを説かれます。またキリストは貧しい者の
ために律法を作り、それを守られます。そしてキリストは不幸な人たち
を保護し、救済します。

The service of God in Christendom is justice, peace, righteousness,
life, salvation. Of this kingdom of Christ the Gospels, and the Epistles
of the apostles, preach and testify. (Luther’s Works 13:54, 72)

キリスト教界において神に仕えることは、正義、平和、公正、生命、そ
して救済です。このキリストの王国については、四福音書と使徒たちの
手紙が説き、また証ししています。(ルターの著作　13:54、72)


(PRAYER 祈り)
Thanks be to You, Ruler of nations, because You have granted our
native land free institutions of government, under which we enjoy
both civil and religious liberty.

感謝します。諸国の支配者である神様。あなたは私たちの祖国に自由な
政府を与えてくださいました。その制度下で私たちは市民的にもまた宗
教的にも自由を享受しています。

By Your mighty hand protect the government of this free republic,
and suffer it not to be overthrown by revolutions and civil wars; and
always grant us honest and wise men for offices high and low. Amen.

あなたの強い御手により、この自由な共和国をお守りください。この国
が革命や内戦によって転覆させられることがありませんように。そして
また、政府の高い官職にも低い官職にも常に正直で賢い人が与えられま
すように。　アーメン。
