READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm91 　詩篇第91篇

1.　　He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
　　　will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

　　　いと高き方の隠れ場に住む者
　　　その人は　全能者の陰に宿る。

2.　　I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress,
　　　my God, in whom I trust.”

　　　私は主に申し上げよう。
　　　私の避け所　私の砦
　　　私が信頼する私の神」と。

3.　　For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
　　　and from the deadly pestilence.

　　　主こそ　狩人の罠から
　　　破滅をもたらす疫病から
　　　あなたを救い出される。

4.　　He will cover you with his pinions,
　　　and under his wings you will find refuge;
　　　his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

　　　主は　ご自分の羽であなたをおおい
　　　あなたは　その翼の下に身を避ける。
　　　主の真実は大盾　また砦。

5.　　You will not fear the terror of the night,
　　　nor the arrow that flies by day,

　　　あなたは恐れない。
　　　夜襲の恐怖も　昼に飛び来る矢も。

6.　　nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
　　　nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

　　　暗闇に忍び来る疫病も
　　　真昼に荒らす滅びをも。

7.　　A thousand may fall at your side,
　　　ten thousand at your right hand,
　　　but it will not come near you.

　　　千人が　あなたの傍らに
　　　万人が　あなたの右に倒れても
　　　それはあなたには　近づかない。

8.　　You will only look with your eyes
　　　and see the recompense of the wicked.

　　　あなたはただ　それを目にし

9.　　Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place---
　　　the Most High, who is my refuge---

10. 　no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
　　　no plague come near your tent.

　　　わざわいは　あなたに降りかからず
　　　疫病も　あなたの天幕に近づかない。

11. 　For he will command his angels concerning you
　　　to guard you in all your ways.

　　　主があなたのために御使いたちに命じて
　　　あなたのすべての道で　あなたを守られるからだ。

12. 　On their hands they will bear you up,
　　　lest you strike your foot against a stone.

　　　彼らはその両手にあなたをのせ
　　　あなたの足が石に当たらないようにする。

13. 　You will tread on the lion and the adder;
　　　the young lion and the serpent
　　　you will trample underfoot.

　　　あなたは獅子とコブラを踏みつけ
　　　若獅子と蛇を踏みにじる。

14. 　“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
　　　I will protect him, because he knows my name.

　　　「彼がわたしを愛しているから　私は彼を助け出す。

15. 　When he calls to me, I will answer him;
　　　I will be with him in trouble;
　　　I will rescue him and honor him.

　　　彼を救い　彼に誉を与える。

16. 　With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

(解説)
The 91st psalm is a psalm of comfort that exhorts us to trust in God
in all distress and affliction.

詩篇第91篇は、慰めの詩です。すべての苦痛とわざわいにあって、神に
信頼するように私たちに勧めます。

It is full of abundant promises flowing from and spun from the First
Commandment.

この詩篇は、十戒の第一戒から出て、加工された多くの約束で満ちていま
す。

It is the second psalm in which the dear angels are proclaimed to be
our guards and protectors (cf. Psalm 34), which is comforting and
good to remember.

この詩篇は、貴い天使たちが私たちの護衛であり、保護者であると告げら
れている二番目の詩篇です。この詩篇を思い出すと慰めとなり、喜びとな
ります。



(PRAYER 祈り)
Lord Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of faith, grant us the true
and saving faith, and preserve us in the same against all temptations
to doubt and unbelief.

信仰の創始者であり完成者である主イエス・キリスト様、私たちに真の
そして救済となる信仰をお与えください。そしてまた、すべての試練に対
しても、懐疑と不信に陥らない信仰のうちにお守りください。

Blot out our iniquities by Your blood; cover our sins with Your righteous-
ness, and let Your angels be a fenced wall around us against all our
enemies, and evermore teach us to know the secret of Your Father’s will.
Amen.

私たちの咎をあなたの血により消し去ってください。私たちの罪をあなたの
義によって覆い隠してください。そしてあなたの天使たちを、私たちの周囲
を囲む壁として、すべての私たちの敵からお守りください。そしてまた、あ
なたの御父の御心の秘密を知ることができるように、これからもずっと私た
