READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm99 　詩篇第99篇

1.　　The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble!
　　　He sits enthroned upon the cherubim;
　　　let the earth quake!

　　　主は王である。
　　　国々の民は恐れおののけ。
　　　ケルビムの上に座しておられる方に。
　　　地よ　震えよ。

2.　　The LORD is great in Zion;
　　　he is exalted over all the peoples.

　　　主はシオンにおられる大いなる方。
　　　主は　すべての国々の民の上に高くいます。

3.　　Let them praise your great awesome name!
　　　Holy is he!

　　　大いなる　恐れ多い御名をほめたたえよ。
　　　主は聖なる方。

4.　　The King in his might loves justice.
　　　You have established equity; you have
　　　executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

　　　王は力をもって　さばきを愛する。
　　　あなたは　公正を堅く立て
　　　さばきと正義とを
　　　ヤコブの中で行われた。

5.　　Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool!
　　　Holy is he!

　　　われらの神　主をあがめよ。
　　　その足台のもとにひれ伏せ。
　　　主は聖なる方。

6.　　Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also
　　　was among those who called upon his name
　　　They called to the LORD, and he answered them.

　　　モーセとアロンは主の祭司たちの中に
　　　サムエルは御名を呼ぶ者たちの中にいた。
　　　彼らは主を呼び　主は彼らに答えられた。

7.　　In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
　　　they kept his testimonies and
　　　the statute that he gave them.

　　　主は雲の柱から　彼らに語られた。
　　　彼らは主のさとしと　主が賜ったおきてを守った。

8.　　O LORD our God, you answered them;
　　　you were a forgiving God to them, but
　　　an avenger of their wrong-doings.

　　　われらの神　主よ
　　　あなたは彼らに答えられた。
　　　あなたは　彼らには赦しの神
　　　彼らの悪しきわざには報復される方。

9.　　Exalt the LORD our God, and worship
　　　at his holy mountain;
　　　for the LORD our God is holy!

　　　われらの神　主をあがめよ。
　　　その聖なる山に向ってひれ伏せ。
　　　まことに　われらの神　主は聖なる方。



(解説)
The 99th psalm is a psalm of instruction that exhorts the people of
Israel to praise their God in Zion---despite the fact that the nations
rage against them because they are a special people of God before all
others. They suffer much on that account.

詩篇第99篇は教えの詩篇で、イスラエルの民にシオンにおられる彼らの神
を称えるように熱心に勧めています。諸国の民は、イスラエルの民が神の御
前で他の民以上に特別な民であることで、イスラエルの民に怒っているけれ
どもイスラエルの民は神を讃えなさいと言っているのです。イスラエルの民
は諸国の民が怒っていることで、とても苦しんでいます。

The psalmist praises Moses, Aaron, and Samuel, who were chief among
the people of Israel.

詩人は、モーセ、アーロン、そしてサムエルを称賛しています。彼らはイス
ラエルの民の中で主要な人たちでした。

However, (as the words declare) he also teaches the people of Israel
themselves that they should know that true worship consists not in
sacrifice of many cattle, but rather in knowing God’s wonders and giving
Him thanks for making them godly and redeeming them from sin.

しかし、言葉の通り、詩人はイスラエルの民自身が、真の礼拝は多くの家畜
の犠牲にあるのではなく、神の驚くべき御業を知り、自分たちを敬虔な者と
し、罪から救ってくださったことに感謝することにあることを知るべきだと
教えています。

This psalm is also a prophecy of Christ, who rules the true Zion in all
the world and has established His throne of grace and His footstool in
heaven, on account of which all the world is now angry, raving, and
foolish, and persecutes and kills the Christians.

この詩篇はまた、キリストの預言でもあります。キリストは全世界におけ
る真のシオンを治め、また天国にキリストの恩寵の御座と足乗せ台とを確
立されました。それが原因で世界は今怒り、わめき、愚かになり、クリス
チャンを迫害し、そして殺しています。


(PRAYER 祈り)
Lord Jesus, be our Guide and our Defense in this evil world, that we
may never be ashamed to confess You before men, but may serve You
in holy conversation and constant fidelity.

主イエスよ、この悪い世界で私たちを導き、また守ってください。人々の前
であなたを告白することを決して恥じることなく、聖なる会話と変わらぬ忠
誠によってあなたに仕えることができますように。

Restrain the evil counsels of those who set themselves against You and
Your Church, and cause them to see the evil of their ways, that they
may be turned to You. Amen.

あなたとあなたの教会に反対する人たちの悪い謀を抑制してください。そし
て彼らがあなたに帰ってくるように、彼らの行く道の悪を彼らに見させてく
ださい。　アーメン。
