READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm124 　詩篇第124篇　


1.　　If it had not been the LORD who was on our side---
　　　let Israel now say---

　　　「もしも　主が私たちの味方でなかったら。」
　　　さあ　イスラエルは言え。

2.　　if it had not been the LORD who was on our side
　　　when people rose up against us,

　　　「もしも　主が私たちの味方でなかったら
　　　人々が敵対してきたとき

3.　　then they would have swallowed us up alive,
　　　when their anger was kindled against us;

　　　そのとき　彼らは私たちを生きたまま
　　　丸のみにしていたであろう。
　　　彼らの怒りが私たちに向って燃え上がったとき

4.　　then the flood would have swept us away,
　　　the torrent would have gone over us;

　　　そのとき　大水は私たちを押し流し
　　　濁流は私たちを越えて行ったであろう。

5.　　then over us would have gone the raging waters.

　　　そのとき　荒れ狂う水は
　　　私たちを越えて行ったであろう。」

6.　　Blessed be the LORD,
　　　who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

　　　ほむべきかな　主。
　　　主は私たちを　彼らの歯の餌食にされなかった。

7.　　We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
　　　the snare is broken, and we have escaped!

　　　鳥のように　私たちのたましいは
　　　仕掛けられた罠から助け出された。
　　　罠は破られ　私たちは助け出された。

8.　　Our help is in the name of the LORD,
　　　who made heaven and earth.

　　　私たちの助けは
　　　天地を造られた主の御名にある。



(解説)　
The 124th psalm is a psalm thanking God for protecting His poor
little band from the ruthless tyrants.

詩篇第124篇は、神の貧しい小さな群れを仮借ない圧制者から守って
くださった神に感謝する詩です。

He rescues them from the snares of the poisonous slanderer.

神は彼らを、毒を含んだ誹謗者の罠から助け出します。

These are as many and great as a great, deep water and flood against
the little band.

これらの誹謗者たちは多く、小さな群れにとっては、大きくて深い海、ま
たは洪水のようでした。

But though their teeth be ever so malevolent and angry, God is greater
and knocks their teeth out and breaks the snares and rescues His own
from them, as we still daily experience.

しかし誹謗者たちの歯は悪意と怒に満ちていましたが、神は彼らより強く、
彼らの歯を折り、罠を砕いて、神の民を彼らから救い出しました。そのこと
は、今日でも毎日のように私たちが経験しているとおりです。


(PRAYER 祈り)
Praise belongs to You, Lord God, because You have so mightily preserved
Your Church against her enemies, both visible and invisible, that the
very gates of hell could not prevail against her.

主なる神よ、あなたに称賛がありますように。あなたの教会の目に見える敵
目に見えない敵から、あなたの教会を、あなたは力強く守ってきてください
ました。それで地獄の門さえ、あなたの教会に打ち勝つことは出来ませんで
した。

Defend us against all evil, and preserve us and our children in the true
knowledge of You and of our Savior Jesus Christ, whom You have sent,
that in Him we may have life. Amen.

すべての悪から私たちと子どもたちをお守りください。そしてあなたについ
ての真の知識と、あなたが送ってくださった私たちの救い主イエス・キリス
トの真の知識の内に私たちをお守りください。イエス・キリストの内に私た
ちが生命をもてますように。　アーメン。
