READING THE PSALMS WITH LUTHER

Psalm149 　詩篇第149篇　


1.　　Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song,
　　　his praise in the assembly of the godly!

　　　ハレルヤ。
　　　新しい歌を主に歌え。
　　　敬虔な者たちの集まりで　主への賛美を。

2.　　Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
　　　let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!

　　　イスラエルは　自らの造り主にあって喜べ。
　　　シオンの子らは　自らの王にあって楽しめ。

3.　　Let them praise his name with dancing,
　　　making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!

　　　踊りをもって　主の御名をほめたたえよ。
　　　タンバリンと竪琴に合わせて　主にほめ歌を歌え。

4.　　For the LORD takes pleasure in his people;
　　　he adorns the humble with salvation.

　　　主はご自分の民を愛し
　　　貧しい者たちを救いをもって装われる。

5.　　Let the godly exult in glory;
　　　let them sing for joy on their beds.

　　　敬虔な者たちは栄光の中で喜び踊れ。
　　　自らの床の上で高らかに歌え。

6.　　Let the high praises of God be in their throats
　　　and two-edged swords in their hands,

　　　彼らの口には　神への称賛があり
　　　彼らの手には　両刃の剣があるように。

7.　　to execute vengeance on the nations
　　　and punishments on the peoples,

　　　それは国々に復讐し
　　　もろもろの国民を懲らしめるため

8.　　to bind their kings with chains
　　　and their nobles with fetters of iron,

　　　彼らの王たちを鎖に
　　　彼らの貴族たちを鉄のかせにつなぐため

9.　　to execute on them the judgment written!
　　　This is honor for all his godly ones.

(解説)
The 149th psalm is a psalm of thanks for the blessing that God is
gracious and merciful to His people, that they know they have a
gracious God, and that they rightly should rejoice.

詩篇第149篇は、神がご自分の民に対して恵み深くまた慈悲深いという恩
恵への感謝の詩篇です。彼らは自分たちには恵み深い神がおられることを
知っており、彼らが大いに喜ぶのは当然のことなのです。

They have this blessing or grace---which is rightly called the forgiveness
of sins---that God will not avenge how evil and sinful they are.

彼らはこの祝福または恩恵を有しています。それは正しく罪の赦しと呼ぶ
べきものです。つまり神は彼らがどれほど悪く、また罪深くてもそれに仕
返しされないのです。

Therefore, this psalm in reality belongs in the New Testament. It
calls itself a new song to the King of Zion, whom they should praise on
their couches, that is, in the church where they come together.
(Similarly, Isaiah called the churches and altars, in which Israel
committed fornication---that is, idolatry---couches or beds.)

それゆえこの詩篇は実際には新約聖書に属しています。この詩篇は自らを
シオンの王への新しい歌と呼んでいます。この王を彼らはカウチの上で讃
えるべきです。カウチとは、彼らが集まる教会の中です。(同様に、イザヤ

Again, it belongs to the New Testament to have a sharp sword in hand
to punish the heathen, to throw kings in stock and dungeons, and to
take vengeance, as it is written.

鋭い剣を手に持って異教徒を罰し、王たちをさらし台や牢獄に投げ込み、
復讐することも、新約聖書に書かれているとおり、新約聖書に属します。

This is the vengeance that is spoken of in the Scriptures, that Abraham’s
seed should strike down idolatry in all the world through the Gospel,
the spiritual sword, taking prisoner all the holiness of the kings and
the wise and subject them to Christ, as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10: 5.

これは聖書で言われている復讐です。それはアブラハムの末が福音即ち霊
的剣によって世界中の偶像を打ち壊し、王たちや賢者たちのすべての聖性
を囚人としてキリストの許へ連れて来て従わせるというものです。そのこ
とについては、パウロが第二コリント書10章5節に述べています。

Praise, honor, and thanksgiving to You, O Christ, King of glory, because
by suffering and death and the shedding of Your blood You redeemed
us from the kingdom of darkness, and made us partakers of Your victory
over Satan, sin, and death. Grant us cheerful faith to sing of Your
grace with heart and soul and to make known Your salvation among
men. Amen.

栄光の主、キリスト様、称賛、名誉、そして感謝があなたにありますよう
に。苦痛と死、そしてあなたの血を流すことにより、あなたは私たちを暗
黒の王国から贖ってくださいました。そしてサタンと罪と死に対するあな
たの勝利に与る者としてくださいました。

あなたの恵みを全心全霊をもって歌えるように、喜びに満ちた信仰をお与
